Ware Co. Ga. - OBIT: Sam W. Walker, 1942 Submitted by Barbara Walker Winge Sam W. Walker Waycross Journal Herald, July 16, 1942 Sam W. Walker Died in Atlanta Sam W. Walker, Sr., 65, Spanish War veteran, died last night in Veteran's Hospital No. 48 in Atlanta, after an extended illness. He was a foreman for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad shops in Waycross and was widely known throughout this sectionof Georgia. A number of years ago he was connected with the city of Waycross, serving as one of the first traffic officers in this section of Georgia, in the days when a motocycle officer was a novelty. As a sportsman he established a reputation as one of the best bird hunters in South Georgia. He is survived by his widow and one son, Sam W. Walker, Jr., of Waycross; two brothers, Percy Walker of Waycross and L. W. Walker of Americus; also two sisters, Mrs. D.
