A native of Emanuel county, Mr. Warren came to Waycross from Sylvester in 1926 and for a number of years was cashier of the First National Bank. He held similar positions in the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Sylvester and the First National Bank of Waynesboro before moving here. Well-known here, Mr. Warren was prominently identified with many civic, community and religious organizations. A devoted member of the First Methodist Church, Mr. Warren served as secretary of the board of stewards and for a number of years was secretary of the First Methodist Church Sunday School. He was treasurer of the Kiwanis Club, a former treasurer of the Waycross Chapter of the American Red Cross, a past director of the Salvation Army and a former member of the board of directors of the Ware County American Legion Post No. 10. Mr. Warren was a veteran of World War I and during World War II he was head of the local War Price and Rationing Board. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Mattie Kate Armentrout of Ashburn; two daughters, Mrs. J. Ralph Booker and Miss Ruth Warren, both of Waycross, two sons, G. I. Warren, Jr., Waycross, and Edwin B. Warren, Atlanta; a brother, Dexter Warren, Stone Mountain; a granddaughter Barbara Booker, Waycross, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at the First Methodist Church. Interment will be in Oakland cemetery. Employees of the Waycross Post Office, the board of stewards of the First Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club will serve as honorary pallbearers and they are asked to meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. Hinson Funeral Parlors is in charge of arrangements.
