GLADYS AILEEN PHILLIPS 

Born in Ware County, GA

Gladys Aileen Phillips, who grew up to marry 
(first) Hawkins Paul, a children's book illustrator, with whom (and later 
without whom) she wrote several children's gardening and cook books, and 
(second) Freddie Bartholomew, the child movie star.  The picture is in the 
form of a postcard; on the reverse it has "To Aunt Mamie from Gladys Aleene" 
Unfortunately the postcard wasn't mailed, so there is no date.  But I'd 
guess early 1920's, she being born in 1917. 
Her father, John Preston Phillips, was my grandmother's brother.
