Witnesseth, that the said John Bates for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said William Berry at or before the sealing and delivery of this Indenture, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, granted & sold, and by these presents do bargain sell & confirm unto the said William Berry, a certain Tract or parcel of land lieing & being in the aforesaid County and State on Little River, having such marks & shapes, as appears by a plat annexed to the original grant (that is to say) begining at a Black Gum on Little River, thence S.88° to a pine adjoining William Berry’s land W 27°to a Black Oak thence 82 E B.Oak on Little River thence down said River to the beginning Gum corner containing three hundred & twelve acres, be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the rights members & appurtenances belonging thereunto and the said John Bates doth by this Indenture warrant & forever defend the above described land unto the said William Berry his heirs & assigns, against the claim of him the said John Bates his heirs and assigns and all & every other person whatsoever. In witness whereof the said John Bates hath set his hand & affixed his seal the day and year above written.
