Carter of Wilkes County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Berry for and in consideration of the sum of Eighteen Hundred Dollars to him in hand …. At or before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given granted, bargained, sold, released and confirmed and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the said Charles R. Carter, his heirs and assigns, all that tract or parcel of land situate, lying & being in the county of Warren on William’s Creek, and containing by estimation five hundred and fifty acres more or less and bounded as follows (to wit) by said William Berry and by Solomeon Thompson on the East; by Arthur Davis land and on the South John Allison & John Irwin on the west and by William’s Creek on the North which said tract of land, herby bargained & sold, is the same which appears to be expressed in the grant to John Thompson for one hundred acres dated the 6th September 1774 also, one other grant to William Hogg the 8th February 1786 for one hundred and fifty acres; also one other grant to Richard Bonner dated 24th January 1791 for two hundred acres, and also one deed from William Downs to the said William Berry date … day of February 1794 for one hundred acres making the in whole five hundred & fifty acres as aforesaid, Reference.. the said Grants & Deed, will more fully and at large appear, Together with all and singular the rights, members and appertainces thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the Remainders, reversions, rents, Issues and profits thereof . To have and to hold the said Tract of land and all & singular the premises and appertainces thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining as aforesaid and ever part thereof unto the said Charles R. Carter , his heirs and assigns, to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Charles R. Carter his heirs & assigns forever, in fee simple, and the said William Berry and his heirs, with the said Charles R. Carter & his heirs, doth covenant and agree to warrant and defend the right of the Land and premises aforesaid unto the said Charles R. Carter his heirs & assignsfrom the claim of himself and all other persons. In Witness where of the said William Berry, hath hereunto set his hand and seal, the day and date first above written.
