The first one is from my great-grandfather, Henry Robert Avery, to Miss Lucy Adell Williams. I have included them together as the second is in response to the first. According to the Avery family Bible, “Buddie” was born in Raytown Georgia September 6, 1870 and “Pinkie” was born in Sharon, Georgia June 2, 1877. This letter, as well as others was found together in a Roi-Tan cigar box. As of this transcription, these letters are 110 years old. This letter is written in pencil on blue lined heavy stock writing paper that has been folded in half, thus opening like a small book. The writing is starting to fade. The original envelope does not exist though the letter was found inside an envelope with two other letters. The letter is transcribed as written. Sharon, Ga.
