Augusta Chronicle March 24, 1943
2/23/1943: Mrs. Eloise Walker English, of Warrenton, Ga., received the 
Distinguished Service Medal, by the Secretary of the Navy, awarded 
posthumously to her late husband. Rear Admiral Robert H. English, commander of 
the US submarine fleet in the Pacific, was killed in an air crash in January. 
He was cited for exceptionally meritorious service. 
Also present: 
Widow’s mother, Mrs. L. H. Walker. 
Daughters; Ensign Eloise English and Miss Cornelia English.
