Augusta Constitution, 8/28/1886 August 28, 1886
During a thunderstorm last week Mr. John Kitchens and family, who lives 
several miles from Dawson, had a narrow escape from lightning. It struck three 
oaks that was standing in the yard, glanced to the residence, shattered a 
window pane and badly stunned Miss Mary Coxwell, who was near by, probably in 
the room. Mr. Kitchen and family were in another part of the house and were 
not hurt.
