I Jilson Berry of said state and county being of advanced age and Knowing that I must shortly depart this life deem it right and proper both as respects my family and my self that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind Providence has blessed me, do therefore make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. 1 Item I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and condition in life My soul, I trust, will return to rest with God who gave it as I hope for eternal Salvation through the merits and atonement of the blessed Lord and savior Jesus Christ whose religion I have professed and as I humbly trust enjoyed for twenty years. 2 Item I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executor herein after appointed as I am unwilling my creditors should be delayed in their rights especially as there is no necessity for delay. 3 Item I give bequeath and devise unto my beloved wife Mary with whom I have lived in the strictest quiet for thirty five years all my estate both real & personal consisting in part of three negroes to wit Phebe a woman and her two children George about thirty seven years of age and Charles about thirty one years of age, also one tract of land where on I now live containing about one hundred & fifty acres a part of which is cleared and in cultivation with all the rights, members, and appertunances, to said tract of land, in any wise belonging free from all charges or limitation whatsoever to her own proper use benefit and behoof forever; and all my stock of every kind and description whatsoever consisting of horses, hogs, & cattle & C & C and all my plantation and farming tools & utensils & household & kitchen furniture of all kind whatsoever and all the ready cash & notes which may be on hand at my death or in other words all the property which I may die seized & possessed of, of every kind quality & description whatsoever to go to & become the property of my said wife Mary forever with full power to dispose of the same at any time previous or by will or deed at her death as she may think proper. 4 Item I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Mary Executrix of this my last will & testament this July 16th 1847.
