Additional Comments:
The transcription was made from LDS microfilm (FHL US/CAN 329,976, Item 7). The 
Bible was filmed as part of a project of the Washington County Historical 
Society in the 1960s to microfilm all available Washington County Family 
Bibles. At the time of microfilming (1963) the Bible was in the possession of 
Fronie Franks May (Mrs. J. R.), of Sandersville, Ga. The copy is very hard to 
read, with much bleed through of ink and difficult to decipher handwriting. 
Several different handwriting styles are evident. Text in square brackets is 
the transcriber's comments.

The father of the Meeks children listed in this Bible was Bennett B. Meeks. The 
mother of the children born before 1870 appears to be Elizabeth Martin, who 
married Bennett Meeks 12 Dec 1850 in Hancock County, Georgia. The mother of the 
children born after 1880 appears to be Alie (or Alice), surname unknown, who 
was named as Bennett Meeks' wife in his 1887 will (Washington County, Georgia, 
proved in Apr 1888). Bennett Meeks was also married to Sarah Osborne 23 Nov 
1873 in Washington County, Ga.; she died of typhoid fever 27 Mar 1878. (Source: 
Washington County Newspaper Clippings, Vol. 2, by Tad Evans.) The parents of 
the Franks children mentioned in the Bible are Mary Meeks Franks and Robert T. 
Franks. They had other children but only two are listed in her father's family 
Bible.
