Records Author: LaVerne Carter WILLIAM WHIDDON FAMILY PIONEERS OF WIREGRASS GEORGIA, Vol. II, page 285, by Folks Huxford, states that William Whiddon was a Revolutionary Soldier in N.C., married Mary Davis, daughter of Benjamin Davis of Darlington District, South Carolina, Mary Davis was born in North Carolina. Names of all of the children of William and Mary Davis Whiddon are not known except for the following sons who are known to be theirs: Eli Whiddon Elias Whiddon William Whiddon, Jr. John Whiddon Lott Whiddon There were three or four daughters of William Whiddon in addition to the five sons listed above. Elizabeth Whiddon was one daughter who married Nathan Barwick. The Whiddon and Barwick families left Darlington District, South Carolina about the same time moving to Washington County, Georgia. Nathan and Elizabeth Whiddon Barwick moved to Emanuel County, Georgia and are the foreparents of a large family connection in that and other counties including Decatur County, Georgia. 1790 Census Darlington District, South Carolina William Whiddon 1 male over 16, 3 males under 16, 5 females.
