Garrett of said state and County after being duly sworn, on oath says that she desires to apply for a pension allowed under the Act of 1910 and submit testimony to make out the same, true answers makes to the following to wit: 1. What is your name, and where do you reside? Farrie A. Garrett 2. How long and since when have you been a continuing resident in the State of Georgia? All my life. 3. When, where and to whom were you married? Washington Co. to Asa A. Garrett 1982 4. When, where and in what Company and Regiment did your husband enlist as a soldier in Confederate Army or Georgia Militia? (State the arms and class of Service). Co. B. 59th Georgia Infantry Regiment 5. When and where did the Commands of your husband surrender or discharge from the army? Virginia near Richmond. 6. Was your husband personally present at the time of the surrender or discharge of this command? No. 7. If he was not present state clearly where he was? At home 8. Where was his Command when he left? Gettysburg a. For what cause did he leave his command? Prisoner b. By whose authority did he leave his Command? Was taken prisoner c. For how long was he granted leave of absence? --- d. What was his physical condition when he left his Command? His hand was broken e. What effort did he make to return to his command? f. In what way was he prevented from going back to Command? What property of any description did you own hold or control for your use and its cash value Nov. 4, 1908, At that time didn’t have anything. 10. What property of any kind have you sold or given away since Nov. 4, 1908? None 11. What property of any description of any value have you now? 50 acres of land. How long and since when did you know A. A. Garrett her husband? Since 1861 6. When, where and in what Company and Regiment did A. A. Garrett enlist? In Co. B. 59th Regiment Ga. Vols 7. Were you a member of the same Company? I was 8. How long within your personal knowledge did he perform actual military service with his Company and Regiment? July 4, 1863 9. When and where did his Command surrender and was discharged? Appomattox Va. April 9, 1865 10. Were you personally present when it was surrendered? I was 11. Was the husband of applicant personally present at surrender? If not, where was he? I understand at home. When, where, and for what cause did he leave Command? Was captured. How do you know all this? My personal knowledge. 12. For what cause if you know of your own knowledge was he prevented from returning to his Command? A. ? who on oath says that they are freeholders of said County and that they know ________ of said County and know what property she owned on 4th Nov. 1908, and its cash value to be as set out by Schedule A as follows: 2 personal property $15 0 Notes and accounts due Schedule B We know the property sold or given away since Nov 4th 1908, its cash value to be as follows: 0 Personal property 0 Money, Notes and accounts Schedule C We also know what property she has now in her possession, use and control to wit: 50 acres of land worth $600 2 Horses and Mules $?? (looks like $150) Other property (cannot read) $25.00 Sworn and subscribed before me Ordinary of Dodge Co. this the 17 day of Sept 1910 W. D. Lister, D. A. B…? Ordinary’s Certificate State of Georgia Dodge County I, ?? Coleman?? Ordinary of said County do certify that I know Farrie a. Garrett the applicant for pension. She is the person she represents herself to be and she is a bonafide continuing resident citizen of said country and was in the 4th Nov., 1908. Yes. That I also know ---- the witness who swears to the service of husband, and D. A. B…? W. D. Lister who are freeholders. That all of them are now residents of said County and were duly sworn by me before signing affidavits and that they all, are truthful trustworthy, and their statements are entitled to full faith and credit. That the Tax Returns Dodge returned for Tax is for 1908 ---- fir 1910 $678.00 Sworn under my hand and official seal of office this 19 day of Sept 1910 Ordinary, Dodge County. -------------------------------- Affidavit of Witness Georgia Washington County Personally appeared before me C. D. ? Ordinary of said County, S. J. Knight who being duly sworn says that he lives in Washington CO., Georgia and that he was in the war between 1862 and 1865 and that he knew A.A. Garrett applicant for pension from Dodge Co and that the same Garrett was ? same Co and Regt with him. Co “B” 59th Ga RegX and that the said Asa Garrett was taken prisoner at Gettysburg, Penn July 1863 and was carried to Point Lookout prison and that he was held there with until ? 1864 and when relieved he came home in bad health and was paroled and that he was never exchanged. He swears that he was with him in said Co. and saw him after his return home and knows the above to be the truth. Sworn to and subscribed before m this Oct. 25 1910 Ordinary Washington Co. Application for Pension Due to a Deceased Pensioner To Be Paid to the Ordinary for Expenses of Funeral and Last Illness Dodge County Personally before me, the Ordinary of said County, comes J. S. Harrison of said County, who after being sworn, on oath says that he knew Mrs. Farrie Garrett of said County, and that said Pensioner was on the Pension Roll of said County at the time of death which occurred in Dodge County, in this State on the 10th day of January 1926, and that a Pension of Two Hundred $200 Dollars was due pensioner and unpaid at the time of pensioner’s death, and that pensioner left no widow or dependent children surviving, and no estate of any value sufficient to pay these funeral expenses, which amounted to the sum of $....per sworn statements fully and complete ITEMIED hereto attached. Sworn to and subscribed before me Ordinary Dodge County J. S. Harrison Certificate of Ordinary Georgia, Dodge County. I S. D. B.. Ordinary of said County, do certify that I personally know J. S. Harrison, who is a resident citizen of said County and that said person is of truthful and trustworthy character, entitled to full faith and credit; that I also knew Mrs. Ferrie Garrett while in life and that this was the same person whose name appears on the Pension Roll of Dodge County, and was paid a Pension of One Hundred Fort ($140) Dollars in said County for 1925 and I now believe said pensioner to be dead; and that the instructions at the foot of this voucher have been carefully observed in making up this voucher and the bills which are attached hereto.
