WASHINGTON COUNTY, GEORGIA Jackson Guards: Garrett, Asa A. -- Enlisted as a private in Company B, 1st Regiment, 1st Brigade, Georgia, State Troops October 3, 1861. Mustered out April 3, 1862. Enlisted as a private in Company B, 59th Regiment, Georgia Infantry May 8, 1862. Captured in hospital at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania July 5, 1863. Paroled at Point Lookout, Maryland, February 1864. Exchanged at Venus Point, Savannah River, Georgia, November 14, 1864. Additional Comments: Asa moved to Dodge County with wife Pheraby Walker Garrett and died there June 3, 1909. Pheraby applied for a widow's pension in Dodge County in 1910.
