Tompkins, aged 40 years, at the Tompkins home, five miles west of Sandersville, on the Brooks Spring road, not far from Tabernacle church. He complained of acute pains and while efforts were being made for his relief he suddenly passed away, his death being attributed to acute indigestion. He was the only son of the late W.T. Tompkins and is survived by his mother, wife and seven children and several sisters. Mr. Tompkins had lived in the Tabernacle section nearly all of his life, except a year or two spent in Jefferson County, and was well known to the people of Sandersville, where he was a frequent visitor. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.A. Harmon, pastor of the Tabernacle Methodist Church, and the burial took place in the cemetery which adjoins the church. The Sandersville Undertaking Company was in charge of the funeral.
