The Rev. Jack Key, pastor of Tabernacle Methodist Church, officiated. Young Brett died as a result of injuries received when his car collided with a dump truck about five miles from Sandersville, on a county road. Brett was traveling the county road when his vehicle collied with a dump truck driven by Lonnie Stewart, that was crossing the road. He was carried to Rawlings Sanatarium, where he died several hours later. Brett was born in Washington County. He served in the Armed Forces during World War 11. At the time of his death, he was employed at Georgia Pigment Company. Survivors include, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Brett; four brothers, Clay Brett, Harold Brett, Otis Brett, of Sandersville, and H.P. Brett of Tennille; four sisters, Mrs. Herman Lord, Mrs. Grable Hutcheson, Mrs. Linwood Brown, and Mrs. Harold Sheppard; three uncles, T.J. Brett Sr., Leon Brantley, and Luther Brantley, one aunt, Mrs. S.C. Frost, and several other relatives in and around Sandersville. Active pall bearers were T.J. Brett Jr., Marvin Brett, A.L. Brett, Jerrell Brantley, James Hadock and Donald Waller. Interment was in Brownwood Cemetery with Mayo Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
