Davis. Coroner Robert L. Davis was called to the farm of Dr. E.A. Harris, formerly the Stanley place, one mile east of Tennille, opposite the farms of Mr. Jeff Gilbert and Mr. R.A. Kelley, last Thursday morning, to investigate the cause of the death of Cleveland Lord, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Lord, who was killed by lightning Wednesday evening about five o'clock, while he was at work in the field. A jury was impanelled, composed of the following citizens: J.E. Salter, foreman, M.D. Jamerson, A.S. Kelley, Harvey Garrett, C.B. Jenkinsand, L.A. Garrett. After hearing the testimony of those who were first to reach the scene of the lightning stroke the jury returned a verdict of death by lightning. The little boy was about twelve or fourteen years of age. The mule which he was plowing was also killed by the stroke. Additional Comments: I did not include the story about the murder.
