Raymond S. Smith, Sr., 67, died while "handling" an inflated tire at Howard Sheppard, Inc., according to Howard Sheppard, owner of the company. Sheppard said since Mr. Smith was alone at the time, the exact cause of the accident was not immediately determined. Services for Smith were held at 2pm today in the Mayo Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Brownwood Cemetery. Smith was a native of Washington County and an associate of Howard Sheppard, Inc, for 30 years. He was a member of Sandersville First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Pittman Smith of Sandersville; three sons, Raymond Smith, Jr. of Atlanta, James Smith of Milledgeville and Joe Smith of Macon; and three grandchildren.
