W.H. WOOD HAD NARROW ESCAPE LAST SATURDAY MORNING About 12 o'clock Saturday morning a horse that was being driven by Mrs. W.H. Wood became unmanageable and ran from the residence of Mr. L.B. Holt to the corner of Dr. M.D. Jamerson's drug store. Mrs. Wood had her little girl in the buggy, but she managed to hold the lines and kept the frightened horse in the middle of the road. A part of the harness had become detached and had fallen down near the hind feet of the horse, which began kicking and running very fast. As soon as the men about the square saw the situation they at once began to try to stop the runaway, one of them grabbing the rein on one side and others getting in front of the horse, which was finally checked at the corner. Mrs. Wood displayed considerate coolness and bravery and did not appear to be frightened on account of the narrow escape.
