We have only one small country store, a church, and a school-house here, but the community is thickly settled. The farmers of this section have planted but little corn up to now, (the 20th) on account of the unfavorable weather, but they are ready, willing and waiting. Our school of fifty-two scholars, taught by Prof. N. Bateman, which has been reduced to fourteen, on account of measles, is slowly improving in the past few days, and we hope he will soon have full attendance. Rev. C.T. Bickley will fill his regular appointment here on the first Sunday, and Saturday before, in March. We hope to have a large attendance. We are having a large and flourishing Sunday school here every Sunday evening at two o'clock. Everybody invited to attend, both young and old. Miss Susie Smith of near Bethel attended Sunday school here last Sunday. Mr. T.A. Curry of this place captured a fine mink a few days ago that had been feasting on his chickens. We are glad to learn that Mr. Joe Brown, who has been on the sick list for some time, is somewhat improving. There has been some talk of a Post Office being established here. A petition has been forwarded to headquarters but has not yet been heard from. The people of this community have been lucky dodging the measles. We have had only two or three cases which are now well. Mrs. New visited her father, Mr. Wm. Doolittle on Sunday last and was heartily welcomed by her many friends and relatives.
