Smith heard the bellow of a cow up the road and on looking saw the cow coming at a rapid rate. He drove out of the road and got out and held his horse. The cow came by swinging a tin can full of nails hung to her tail and bellowing with every leap. Just as the cow got opposite the horse, it became frightened and dropped dead. It was learned that some mischievious boys had tied the tin can to the cow's tail.
