Downs in the eastern section of this county last Monday afternoon, in which three small colored children were burned to death. The mother of the children had locked them in the house which was occupied by the family and had gone to the field to pick cotton, a practice which is common among the colored people. It is supposed that the children were playing with fire, and as there was no way for them to escape from the building when it became ignited they were burned to death before rescuers could reach the scene.
