There was a hollow under the surface and there was a drop of several feet. This stable had been used by J.E. Peddy during the past winter while he was dealing in mules, but there was no indication of a collapse of the surface until the accident occurred Friday night. Previously there has been sinks in the earth not far from where this accident occurred, supposed to have been caused by lime formations that had been washed out by rain.
