Hodges, who was nominated in the state primary election and elected at the regular election held yesterday happened to the misfortune of being run down by a Ford car while crossing a street in Tennille Saturday morning. The car was driven by a young man from Kite, who was not very familiar with handling the machine and in turning a corner near the Farmers and Merchants Bank approached Mr. Hodges from the rear, being almost upon him before he was seen, as another vehicle prevented the driver from seeing him in time to avoid an accident. The driver called to Mr. Hodges and as he did so the latter turned and was facing the car when struck. He was knocked over on his back and the car ran over him, causing very painful bruises about the head and arms. As soon as he could be extricated from beneath the car he was placed in another car by Mr. T.W. Smith who brought him to Dr. Rawlings Sanitarium in Sandersville to have his wounds dressed. He is reported to be getting along all right and his many friends throughout the county are glad to know that his wounds were not of a very serious nature.
