Lord was displaying seventeen rattles and a button as the trophy after the killing of a huge rattlesnake on the Ohoopee river, ten miles south of Tennille. The snake was treed by a dog and was making music with his rattles as he coiled in position to strike and inject the venomous poison into any one approaching close enough. The snake was killed by a stroke from a stick which was used effectively on his head as it stood aloft above his body. There are quite a number of rattlesnakes in various sections of the county and all should be cautious in order to prevent being attacked by these deadly reptiles.
