Sandersville Progress June 8, 1927
  A well has been bored on the Luther Brooks farm, near Brooks Spring, which
affords an abundance of cool water strongly impregnated with sulphur, which can
be detected by the odor. The water is soft and pure and considerable quantities
of it can be imbibed without any discomfort, which is one peculiarity of all
sulphur water. It is really stronger of sulphur than the famous Indian Spring in
Butts county, which attracts thousands of visitors annually. A number of our
citizens have visited the well and some bring jugs of water home with them, as
the sulphur water appears to agree with them. The galvanized pipe is about five
feet above the surface of the ground where the well is located and the water
flows from it in a bold constant stream, affording an ample supply for all
needed purposes. It could be used for irrigating purposes with beneficial
results in the cultivation of corn or truck crops of all kinds, as the elevation
is sufficient to send it over a large area at comparatively little expense, and
it is hoped that Mr. Brooks will try the experiment, just to show what
irrigation will do for Georgia crops. There is a level field near which could be
used for the purpose.
