Water Waist Deep In Road Buffalo creek ran over its banks last week after the heavy rain and the water gradually encroached on the Brooks Spring property causing the occupants of the tents and cottages to beat a hasty retreat while the overflow surged about the buildings and temporary structures. The water was waist deep in the road leading to the spring, and the bathers put on their suits and waded into the overflow to gather up the chickens and other things that were floating on the water. They seemed to enjoy the unusual experience and made a frolic of the occasion. The mineral spring, which has been furnishing an abundance of water for seekers after health was completely covered by the overflow and water from the artesian well had to be used while this condition lasted. On Saturday morning the creek had sufficiently subsided to permit access to the spring, and "Uncle Jimmy" Brooks, patriarch of that settlement, after whom the spring is named, was enabled to get his first drink from the fountain of health after the water had gone down. The overflow only occasioned temporary inconvenience and the spring is now flowing the same as ever. This resort has been a great convenience to the people of this section, many improvements having been made in order to make it more attractive, and hundreds of people have been benefited by the splendid mineral water which nature has provided so abundantly. The hotel service is being kept up to the best standards and there will be many more visitors at the spring before the season ends.
