BROOKS PASSES AFTER LONG ILLNESS - Thomas Silas Brooks, age 71, resident of the Deepstep community, passed away New Year's Day, after an illness of several years. Mr. Brooks had been a prominent farmer of that community for many years and had many friends and relatives throughout the state. Funeral services were held on January 2, from Deepstep Methodist Church with the Rev. T.A. Moseley officiating, assisted by Rev. W. Harry Moore, pastor of the Sandersville Methodist Church. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Survivors besides his wife, Mrs. Nellie O'Quinn Brooks are three daughters, Mrs. Corrine Kelley of Atlanta, Mrs. Mattie Hinson of McRae, and Mrs. Jorelle Clifton of Macon; one son, Samuel Brooks of Deepstep; two brothers, C.W. Brooks of Sandersville and J.F. Brooks of Athens; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Harris of Macon and Mrs. Mary Lizzie Veal of Deepstep; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Nephews of Mr. Brooks served as pallbearers.
