Godfrey, 79, mother of the late J.D. Godfrey who died February 5, 1956, were held Friday, March 30, at Davisboro Baptist Church. Dr. J.M. Branch and the Rev. W.A. Sedgwick officiated. Mrs. Godfrey died Thursday, March 29, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.L. Brock, of Davisboro. Mrs. Godfrey was born September 15, 1876, in Jefferson County, Miss Annie Lyons daughter of the late Henry Lyons and the late Mrs. Lyons. She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Grange. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. J.L. Brock, Davisboro, Mrs. Hybert Dixon, Waycross; one son, Henry J. Godfrey, Warner Robins; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, John Lyons; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Mathews, Avery, Mrs. Leslie Tatam, Atlanta; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were Earl McNeely, Ed. F. Perry, Wayne Pate, Irwin Hodges, Billy Warthen, and Rabun Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Kinman Brown, Dr. W.B. Warthen, Henry Hunter, Dr. John Taylor, Jim Warren and L.J. Moye Sr. Interment was in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville with Mayo Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
