Gilbert, 90, Dies in Oconee Funeral services for Greene J. Gilbert, 90, of Oconee, who died after a two- weeks' illness Thursday, were conducted from the Antioch church at 6 p.m. the same afternoon. Rev. L.A. Cunningham, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by the Rev. E.G. Orahood of Sandersville. Probably the oldest living white man in Washington county at the time of his death, Mr. Gilbert's death followed an illness of only short duration. Very active, he had full control of all his faculties, and was a frequent visitor to neighboring towns. Mr. Gilbert leaves four children, Mrs. W.C. Curry, the Rev. O.G. Gilbert, W.T.R. Gilbert, and Mrs. Z.R.G. Deerfoot. In addition he is survived by 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Pall bearers were O.S. Gilbert, Jr., Rachels Gilbert, E.G. Anderson, F.A. Anderson, Earl Curry and Curtis Curry, all grandsons of the deceased. Honorary pall bearers were W. R. Hodges, of Dublin; Wyman Hodges, Cecil Hodges, Eugene Hodges, Hilton Hodges and C.A. Hodges, T.Y. McBride, A.R. Mohr, C.A. Brooks, E.K. Woods, Joe Sessions, Greene Young, T.N. Smith, Henry Morris, Dan Copeland, J.D. Orr, N. Wood and A.W. Smith.
