The Sandersville Progress, April 29, 1897

DIED
Mrs. Mary Watkins, wife of Mr. W. Watkins near Deepstep, died on yesterday 
morning aged about 72 years. For many years this good woman had been in feeble 
health, and some time ago had a fall, from the effects of which she never 
recovered. Her aged husband now about 77 years of age and her children have the 
sympathy of many friends in their great loss.

Additional Comments:
From The Sandersville Herald or Progress?, May 2, 1895:
"Drs. Rawlings and Cheatham performed a very delicate opperation on Mrs. Wm. 
Watkins breast some time ago and we are glad to learn that she is doing well."

16 May, 1895:
"Mrs. Wm. Watkins has about recovered from the operation preformed by Messrs. 
Rawlings and Cheatham some time ago. Our community, generally are enjoying fine 
health, for which let us be thankful.
