Willis Evans, who died Wednesday, July 13, in Opelika, Ala., were held in Miami, Fla., on Saturday, July 16th. Dr. Roy Angel, pastor of Miami's Central Baptist Church, and a former pastor of Mrs. Evans officiated. Mrs. Evans, 88, had moved from her home in Miami to Alabama eight years ago after residing in Miami for 27 years. Mr. Evans, who before her marriage, was the former Miss Lillian Booz, is well remembered here though she and her family left Sandersville 35 years ago to make their home in Miami. She is the widow of the late A. Willis Evans, who was an outstanding Baptist layman, former mayor of Sandersville and a prominent attorney. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C. S. Whittelsey of Opelika and Mrs. Elliott Dunwoody of Coral Gables, Fla.; also six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Additional Comments: Lillian Dale Booz was born in Lindale (Boozeville), Floyd Co., GA on 10 August 1872. She married Andrew Willis Evans, the son of Beverly Daniel Evans, Sr. and Sarah Patience Smith of Sandersville, on 4 January 1899 in Cedartown, Polk Co., GA.
