Thompson francist@mindspring.com November 17, 2003, 8:37 pm Rome News, Sunday, July 27, 1941 Sarah Alice Evans Booz, age 68, died Friday afternoon, July 25, 1941, while visiting the home of a son, Harry W. Booz of Church Roads, Virginia where she had been for the past six weeks. She had been in failing health for a year but died suddenly of a heart attack. Rites will be held today at 3:30 at the Cedartown First Baptist Church. Pall bearers will be Houston Lee, Jere Dodd, J.W. Veach, R.S. Kennard, and R.S. Ransom. Surviving are two sons, Thomas Evans and Harry W. Booz. Mrs. Booz was born in Sandersville, Ga., Sept. 24, 1873. Her father was Col. Beverly D. Evans and her mother was Sallie Smith Evans. Both were pioneer residents of Washington Co., Ga. Her brothers were the late B. D. Evans of Atlanta and Savannah, A. W. Evans of Miami, Dr. J.H. Evans of Sandersville. A. L. Evans, George C. Evans, and Harry Evans are also brothers, all deceased. Mrs. Booz was a member of the First Baptist Church. Additional Comments: Sarah Alice married Thomas Hite Booz, Jr. in Sandersville on 23 April 1902. Her brother, Andrew Willis Evans married Thomas' sister Lillian. This is where Tom and Sarah met.
