Atlanta Constitution, 10 October 1897
Sandersville, Ga., October 9-
W. P. Rawlings, chief of police and a citizen of this place, died at his home 
today about noon.  He leaves a wife and five small children.  The town loses a 
worthy citizen and an exemplary officer by his death.
