Charles Smith was born ca 1763, Edgefield District, SC. he married Vicy Ann Ellis ca 1783, Edgefield District, SC. then ca 1825, he married Rebecca Lane in Appling County, GA. He died ca 1833, Wayne County, GA. His grave was marked by the Altamah Chapter NSDAR on Wednesday, August 03, 1921 to commemorate that Charles Smith had served as a soldier in Barnett's Co. "D" of the state militia of SC, served in Hampton's Reg. & Sumpter's Brigade. in the Revolutionary War.
