I, James May of Wayne County and state of Ga. afore said, being weak in body but of sound mind & memory and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make, ordain, publish and declare my last will and testament, in manner form following. I bequeath my soul to God, who have it and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner at the direction of my Executrix & Executors hereinafter named and as to such worldly estate as it has pleased God to give me, I disopose of in the following manner to wit: First I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife- - Mary May, the plantation Called the Cottage, and all my other lands adjoining, with all the houses improvements furniture and plantation tools there to belonging and also my horses, excepting the one Called Ball, with power to sell all away of said horses in Case her necessities so require, also all my hogs, sheep and Cattle and also the following slaves (viz:) (1) Ceaser, (2) Ben, (3) Isaac, (4) David, (5) Steck, (6) Sam, (7) Stephen, (8) Levi, (9) Toble, (10) Edmund, (11) Abner, (12) Nat, (13) Violet & her son, (14) Tom Celia, & her two Children, (15) Sarah Ann and (16) Emiline, (17) Cuddy, 18 Eliza, 19 Priss, 20 Lucy, 21, Henry, 22 Hannah and her child 23 Eliza, being twenty four in number, with their increase to have and to hold all the said property afore mentioned for and during her natural like and so long as she ay remain a widow and unmarried and after her death or enter marriage, then to my son James Cleveland May, his heirs and assigns for ever,but in case fo the death of my Son said James Cleveland May, before he arrives at the age of twenty one years, leaving alive neither wife, child or children, then it is my will that all of said property should go the the Children of Theresa E. Quinn. It is also my will and desire, that after the death or intermarriage of my said wife Mary May, All of th hogs, sheep and Cattle before mentioned shall be sold and the proceeds or as much thereof as may be sufficient appropriated to the education of my said son James Cleveland May, under the directions of James Hamilton Cooper, one of my executors. Secondly I give devise and bequeath unto my said son James Cleveland May, Two tracts of land in Glynn County adjoining the Clarks Bluff tract already belonging to him the one Containing Three hundred (300) acres and the other two hundred (200) acres to him, his heirs and assigns forever, but in case of his death before he arrives at the age of twenty one years, leaving a live neither wife, child, or children, Then to the Children of the said Theresa E. Quinn. Thirdly I give and bequeath to the children of my said daughter Theresa E Quinn, the following Negroes and their increase to wit: (1) Rhody and her son Charles, (2) Emiline & her daughter Sallie (3) Charlolle, and her two children Caroline and Hannah - Harriet Milly and Dooly, being ten in number to them and their heirs & assigns forever Fourthly I give to my said daughter Theresa E. Quinn for her separate use and benefit my saddle horse named Ball. Fifthly I give & bequeath to Mary T Ratcliff formerly Mary T May the sum of ten dollars. Sixthly It is my will & desire that all the residue of my estate real and personal & mixed shall be sold at the direction of my Executors and the proceeds thereof equally divided between y son James Cleveland May and the children of said Theresa E. Quinn. Lastly I hereby Constitute, nominate, and appoint my said wife Mary May Executrix, and Moses S Harris and James Hamilton Cooper Executors to this my last will & testment hereby revoking all by me at any time here to fore made.
