Smith, admin of Alexander Goodson To the sheriff of said county: The defendant C.H. Smith, admin of Alexander Goodson, is hereby required to personally, or by attorney, to be and appear at the Superior court to be holden in and for the county of Schley on the aforementioned Monday in March next, then and there to answer the Plaintiff’s Complaint, as in default thereof the court will proceed as to justice shall appertain. Witness the Honorable Allen Fort of said court, this tenth day of Dec. 1884. J.N. Cheney, clerk Additional Comments: (Notes: The sheet announcing the verdict in this case is badly torn, but there is enough of it to determine that the jury of twelve listened to the evidence presented and the arguments made and found in favor of the defendant, Dr. C.H. Smith as administrator of the estate of Alexander Goodson. He was given a judgment that allowed him to recover an unreadable amount from the plaintiff and I would assume the costs of the suit. The foreman of the jury was J.R. Walters and Dr. Smith’s attorneys were the firm of Butts & Lumpkin. Noel Hill Goodson was the son of the decedent, Alexander Goodson & Hannah Hathorn Goodson.)
