Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. March 31, 2009, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Centerpoint Community, Webster County, Georgia with the Rev. Robert Orr officiating. Special music will be provided by Susie Ethridge and Wynona Jones. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. The family received friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Richland and in the church fellowship hall immediately following the burial. Mrs. Everett was born July 2, 1925, in Webster County to W.O. "Bill" and Mary Frank Stapleton Fussell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Theron "J.T." Everett Sr. and her granddaughter Rose Ann Everett. She lived in the Centerpoint Community all her life except for a brief time in Plains, Ga., when first married and the last few years as a resident of Four County Health Care in Richland. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she had worked with the Sunday School and served as Sunday School superintendent. She taught elementary school in Weston, worked with the commodities program in Webster County in the '60s and she was a case worker with the Department of Family and Children Services in Webster, Stewart and then Sumter counties until retirement. Survivors include a son, James Theron "Jake" Everett Jr. and his wife, Margie; a daughter, Susie Potter and her husband, Butch; a grandson, Jayson Everett; and a sister, Mary Ivey Hughes, all of Preston. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Louise Smith, Sue Stephens and Mary Helen Everett, all of Plains, and Sarah Harrison of Memphis, Tenn. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 5716 Macedonia Church Road, Preston GA 31824 or to the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Home, 3000 Highway 42 North, Stockbridge GA 30281.Smith Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.
