Some ill feeling in Whitfield and Catoosa Counties was created against them. Near Ringgold last Monday, a squad of citizens met the Mormans in the road and concluded to chastise them. One of the citizens laid his pistol on the ground, when Standing jumped and seized it and demanded the surrender of the entire party. One of the citizens was equally as quick and fired, shooting Standing in the head, killing him instantly. The other Mormons were not molested.
