These surviving oaths are now in the Georgia Archives. Transcribed are the name, residence (if NOT Wilcox County) and date. The Wilcox County Ordinary, James W. Mashburn countersigned all of these documents. 1865 Oaths Of Allegiance - Wilcox County, Georgia UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, STATE OF GEORGIA, WILCOX COUNTY I (name of person swearing oath) of the County of Wilcox, and the State of Georgia, do solemnly swear or affirm, in presence of Almighty God, that I will henceforth faithfully defend the Constitution of the United States, and the Union of the States thereunder; and that I will, in like manner, abide by and faithfully support all Laws and Proclamations, which have been made during the existing rebellion, with reference to the emancipation of Slaves.
