                              WILCOX COUNTY SITE
                Abbeville Wins the Contest Against Rochelle
     Atlanta, Nov. 8-- One of the hottest local fights ever waged before the
Georgia Legislature was decided today when the house defeated the bill to remove
the county seat of Wilcox County from Abbeville to Rochelle. The vote was 93 to
55 against the bill. This bill came before the house with a favorable report
from the committee on counties and county matter, but there was also a rehot
minority report against it. In the last election held in the county to decide
the matter the requisite two-thirds vote was cast for removal, but ther was
charges of fraud and the election was contested. The secretary of state decided
that there was evidences of fraud, the illegalities have been practiced by both
sides, and the investigation did not warrant any change in the result. The house
was flooded with literature bearing upon both sides of the case and a full
attendance of members  was had when the measure came up for final consideration.
There was a lengthy and heated debate, the discussion consuming the entire session.
