Bowen Charles Maynard Bowen, 82, of Abbeville, died Tuesday in Taylor Memorial Hospital, Hawkinsville, after a short illness. Mr. Bowen, a life-long resident of Abbeville, was a retired drug store owner. He was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church, served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, was a veteran of World War I, and served as Justice of the Peace for a number of years. Survivors are one brother, Jim Bowen of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were to be conducted at 11am today at Frazier and Son Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. James Faircloth. Deacons of the Abbeville Fisrt Baptist Church were to serve as pallbearers. Burial was to follow in Stubbs Cemetery, Abbeville. Additional Comments: Charles was born 1-5-1893. Georgia death certificate #002787. His wife was Emma Catherine "Kate" Lee Bowen who is also buried in Stubbs Cemetery, Abbeville.
