Death of J. E. Stanley
     Mr. Jessie [sic] E. Stanley, a merchant of Abbeville, died last Monday 
morning early, at his home about __ and a half miles south of town, aged 38 
years.  He was ill only a short while, his death resulting from a complication 
of jaundice and pneumonia.
     The funeral services were held at the Methodist church, of which he was a 
member, at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, Rev. W. T. Stewart conducting the 
services.  The interment was at Stubbs cemetery.
     Mr. Stanley has lived here for many years, and had a large number of 
friends.  He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death, to all of 
whom the Chronicle extends deep sympathy.

Additional Comments:
Jesse Exela "Oliver" Stanley was born 19 October 1868 in Georgia, the son of 
William Henry Stanley and Mary Matildy Sexton Stanley.  He married Mary Anna 
Rowell on 16 October 1889 in Dooly Co., GA.  She was the daughter of John R. 
Rowell of Dooly Co., GA.
