Born in Jackson County, the son of Alex[ander] A. and Amanda Bellew [sic; Ballew] Turk, he was a member of Pitts Baptist Church, W. O. W., and was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy E. Moore; five sons, D. E. Turk, Abbeville, G. E. Turk, Morris Turk, Emerson Turk, all of Pitts, and Clifton Turk of Perry; four daughters, Mrs. Ellen Elkins and Mrs. Sara Maynard, both of Atlanta, Mrs. Ethelene Sumner, Wrightsville, Mrs. Clara Brunson, Albany; one brother, T. N. Turk, Cordele; one sister, Mrs. S. B. Archer, Jefferson; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 21, at 4 p.m. from Pitts Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Willis officiating, assisted by the Rev. Earl Powell. The Ellis Quartet of Cordele sang. Pallbearers were Wyatt Miller, L. O. Peebles, D. E. Canthell [sic?; Cantrell], Jack Dowdy, J. L. Faircloth and Ernest Braziel Jr. Interment was in Pitts Cemetery with Jamerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Additional Comments: Charles Baxter Turk was born on 24 September 1883 in Jefferson, Jackson Co., GA. He married Nancy Elizabeth Moore on 26 December 1906 in Wilcox Co., GA.
