Jeremiah Early witnessed James' will. Randolph was listed on 1767 tax list of Pittsylvania Co, Va with his father's slave Bimbo. James also mentioned son Archibald. See Henry Co, Va and Wayne Co, Ky for records of men named Archibald. Randolph married by 1761 to MARY CROWLEY, when her father Jeffrey Crowley wrote his last will and named Randolph Gibson. Mary, b. ca 1737 in Orange or Spotsylvania Co, Va; died by 1798 in Oglethorpe Co, Ga, probably in the home of her brother, Ben Crowley. Ben and Mary were children of Jeffrey Crowley and Effie ___. Randolph Gibson and Mary Crowley had the following children, all born about 1760-70 (?) in Pittsylvania County. Mary Crowley Gibson was a little over 20 years old when her first child was born. The children are not in order of birth. They were all listed in the Wayne Co, Ky Deed Books as heirs of George Gibson deceased who died intestate without issue. His large estate was divided between his brothers and sisters as follows: 1. JOHN GIBSON, Sr. b. c1760 in Bedford Co, Va; married a daughter of GEORGE YOUNG SR., a long time friend of the Crowley family in Pittsylvania Co, Va. John was named as legatee in George Young Sr's Estate File, 1791 in Wilkes Co, Ga. John Gibson served in Revolutionary War and died before 1838 [Lincoln Co, Tn? pre-deceasing his brother George]; had children who lived in Indiana by 1838: Catherine Gibson of Martin Co, Indiana Luallin [Lewallen] Gibson & Mary his wife of Daviess Co, Indiana Lewis Gibson of Daviess Co, Indiana John Gibson Jr. of Daviess Co, Indiana William.Gibson of Illinois All children are legal representatives of John Gibson, deceased, representative of George Gibson, dec'd of Wayne...(Wayne Co, Ky Deed Bk G:35-36). In James Cotton's Revolutionary War File (No.W.6942, Nancy Cotton, widow ), ..."JOHN GIBSON testified from Lincoln Co, Tn dated 20 Sep 1832, aged about 72 and declared that in 1781 in Guilford Co, NC he joined a company of mounted infantry commanded by Capt. John May...and James Cotten was in that same company...and marched to fight the Tories..The Testimony of JUDITH STRONG, dated 15 May 1843 in Rockingham Co, NC: She declared she was acquainted with James Cotton and Nancy Johnson before they married. She was at the wedding of William Cotton's the uncle of James Cotton. They were married about 57 or 58 years ago. James Cotten's file states in January 1781, while visiting his relatives in HENRY CO, VA, HE SUBSTITUED for JOHN NANCE in Capt. George Harston's [Hairston] Company of men drafted from that county for a 3 month tour in NC to assist in combatting the British and Tories who then infested that colony." Cotten's unit mustered on 1 Jan 1781 about 2 months prior to the call given JAMES CROWLEY'S unit commanded by Thomas Henderson. Ephraim served in Rev. War from Wilkes Co, NC; lived in Wilkes Co, Ga with Randolph Gibson family; went to Livingston Co, Ky early and had land grant on Deer Creek that he patented in 1805 and where he later died; Jesse Gibson first appeared on the Livingston Co, Ky Tax List in 1808 and had 100 acres on Deer Creek; 1 Negro slave and 3 horses. Jesse and Elizabeth continued living in Livingston Co until his death and then Elizabeth moved to Hardeman Co, Tn and lived with son George. She died there. "William Stroud personally appeared in Court and being sworn, depose that the night after RANDALL GIBSON was taken by him, the deponent and John Hawkins, whether the said Hawkins was guarding and taking care of the said Randall, the dwelling house of the said John, with sundry household goods therein, was burnt down, consumed and destroyed, which deposition is ordered to be certified" (p.642).
