This file was contributed by: Debs Cofer debsc@computron.net ==================================================================== I was visiting the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, Texas where many notable Texans are buried. The cemetery also includes confederate veterans that lived in or fought for Texas during the WBTS. In the area of notables, I could not help notice that a large obelisk monument was erected to the memory of William Jack. I looked several times to try to determine that I had the names in the right order. At the bottom in large letters was the name Jack. What caught my eye here was that he came from Wilkes County GA. The birth home of my father. Mr. Jack was born April 12, 1806 and died August 20, 1844. He had apparently held some significant positions in the early government of Texas. I hope that someone looking for relatives from GA can use this small piece of information.
