Colley Georgia – Wilkes County}} by the Court of Ordinary of said county. To M.G. [Milton George] Robert, J.M. Dyson, S.C. Ellington, B.T. Bowden, P.W. J. Callaway: These are to authorize you, or any three of you, to appraise the goods and chattels of D.C. Colley, late of said county, deceased, in Dollars and Cents, so far as the same shall be produced to you by Z.D. Colley the Extr of the Last Will of D.C. Colley, the said Executor being bound to produce to you for appraisement all and singular the goods and chattels of his testator, which hath or shall come into his hands, possession & knowledge, you having first taken an oath before some proper person, will and truly to do so (a certificate of which oath you are requested to return annexed to same appraisement). When the same appraisement is completed, you are requested to make an Inventory of all the property, appraised and the value of appraised articles signed by any three or more of you and return the whole to the Ordinary of said County, within the time prescribed by Law, together with this warrant. In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal January 11th 1864. {Signed} G.G. Norman, Ordinary, Clerk Additional Comments: Son of Francis Colley & Frances Owens. Confederate Soldier in 15th Georgia Infantry Regiment, Wilkes County. He wrote his last will and testament on 21 october 1861. Dempsey Carroll Colley was killed at the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia, 13 December 1862.
