Copied at the Wilkes County Courthouse in Washington, Georgia, September 2006, transcribed by Marshall Styles: Georgia} Wilkes County} This Indenture made this thirtieth day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty between Adam L. Alexander of the said State and County of the one part and Francis Colley of the State and County aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Adam L. Alexander for and in consideration of the sum of One thousand dollars to him in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained and sold and by these presents, grant, bargain and sell and convey to the said Francis Coley, to his heirs & assigns all that tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the State and County aforesaid, on the Waters of Fishing Creek containing three hundred & fifty eight acres, be the same more or less adjoining lands belonging to Christian Bolton & others and known by the name of Kinderhook, which said tract or parcel of Land having been lived on by Richard J. Willis, formerly Deputy Sheriff of the County aforesaid by virtue of fi fa in the name of the Banks of the State of Georgia vs Simeon Echols, was lawfully sold at the Court House of said County on the 1st Tuesday in October in the year eighteen hundred and twenty-eight & purchased by the said Adam L. Alexander, as will more fully appear by the Sheriff titles on Record in book KKK folio 245.246, said tract of land bounded as follows: Beginning on a red oak adjoining lands of the said Alexander thence north eight chains to a post oak thence east forty three chains & fifty links to a hickory corner thence south eighty chains to a post oak or stake, thence West forty three chains & fifty links to the beginning corner, will more fully appear by reference to the original grant to Taylor Dukes. Now, the said premises, the said Adam L. Alexander, together with all & singular the rights and appurtenances thereof, in any wise belonging of the said Francis Colley, his heirs Executors, administrators & assigns, the said bargained premises hath sold and conveyed unto his & their own proper use, benefit and behoof in fee simple and the said Adam L. Alexander for himself, his heirs, Executors & administrators, the said tract of land & premises aforesaid to the said Francis Colley, his heirs or assigns will by these presents warrant and defend, against the title, claim or demand of himself, his heirs or assigns, & against the claim of all other persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Adam L. Alexander hath hereunto set his hand and fixed his seal the day and year above written. A.L.
