Indenture bet Joseph Burks & George Oglesby 01 Feb 1832 Wilkes Co, GA WILKES COUNTY, GEORGIA, DEED BOOK LLL, pp. 343-344 This indenture made this first day February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-two between Joseph H. Burks of the County and State aforesaid of the one part and George S. Oglesby of the County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Joseph H. Burks as aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold to the said Geo. S. Oglesby, his heirs and assigns, all that tract of land on Newford Creek containing 335 acres. Beginning at a persimmon and running thence S46-1/2E, 13.60 to a stake & thence 44-1/2E, 4 chains to a stake corner; thence, S64E, 68 chains to a pine and thence S35W, 18 chains, 25 links to hickory and thence S35E, 12.25 blackjack lying down; thence, S44-1/2W, 19.75 to sassafras stake and N69-1/2W, 44.50 to pine and thence N40W, 66.25 to a stake and thence down the said creek to the beginning, all of which will fully appear by a plat hereto annexed surveyed by C. Sappington, Cty. Surveyor. To have and to hold the above mentioned tract of land and premises thereof and I, the said Joseph H. Burks, do warrant and defend the same and any part thereof and I, the said Joseph H. Burks, do warrant and defend the same and any part thereof against the claims of myself, my heirs, and all other persons forever to the said Geo. S. Oglesby, to his heirs and assigns forever.
