Stephenson, Jr. January 2002 Wilkes County Georgia This indenture, made 26th of February in the year of our Lord 1819, between Joseph Luckett of Warren County and Nathan Chapman of Wilkes County, Georgia. Witnesseth that the said Joseph Luckett for and in consideration of the sum of $306.00 to him in hand paid by the said Nathan Chapman, the receipt thereof, he doth hereby acknowledge and himself, thereby fully satisfied, contented, and paid hath bargained, sold and confirmed unto the said Nathan Chapman, all that parcel of land being in Wilkes County, Georgia, upon said Rock Creek, Ogeechy River. Bounded as follows: Beginning at a point 3X on Joshua Bell's land-line, and running thence to S-10, E. $, and chain 50 links to a pile of stones. Said Bell's corner on the same course, 6 chains 93 links further to a small pine, on Steven's line, a corner of line purchased of Phillip barrow by said Chapmen with the line of said line to a beginning. Containing 50 acres more or less and being part of tract of land granted to John Burke, together with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances thereon. All the estate, Rights, Titles, Claims and Demands of the said Joseph Luckett or any other persons to the same . . . . . unto the said Nathan Chapman, his heirs and assigns and their own proper use and behalf forever, in fee simple, whereof the said Joseph Luckett has placed his had and seal. Recorded April 19, 1825. Signed in presence of John Torrence, Joshua bell, and (his brother) John Chapman. Before Archibald Gresham, J. P., John Chapman swore he saw Joseph Luckett sign and deliver. Recorded March 4, 1820. There are many land records of Nathan Chapman and his son John Chapman found in Taliaferro County and Wilkes County, Georgia. On October 8, 1823 John Bryant of Wilkes County sold to John Chapman of Wilkes County 100 acres of land on the waters of Lock and Hardin Creeks. Witness: Nathan Chapman. February 27, 1824 Nathan Chapman swore before William Little, J. P., that he saw John Bryant sign deed to John Chapman, Recorded Wilkes County, 1825. Nathan Chapman drew land in 1803 Lottery Wilkes County. Jan. 1, 1847 Nathan Chapman sold land to George Tilley, Taliaferro County (formerly Oglethorpe Co.) Nathan Chapman drew land in the 1827 land lottery. Records found of Nathan Chapman in records of Taliaferro County 1840, 1836, 1829. Nathan Chapman bought of John Chapman 50 acres of Rocky Creek, Nov. 13, 1834, Taliaferro County, GA. Nathan Chapman bought of John Chapman 100 acres of Rocky Creek, for a mill site, Dec. 28, 1836. Recorded Taliaferro County, GA, January 7, 1837. Owned 327 acres in Taliaferro County.
