This Indenture made this twenty eighth day of December one thousand seven 
hundred and ninety seven Between Asa Hooks and Agnes his wife of the County of 
Wilkes and State of Georgia of the one part and John Colley of the County and 
State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Asa Hooks and 
Agnes his wife for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and ninety 
five dollars to them in hand well and duly paid before the signing & delivery 
of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained 
and sold and by these presents doth bargain grant sell and convey unto the 
said John Colley all that tract or parcel of land containing one hundred fifty 
actress, be the same more or less, Situate lying and being in the County of 
Wilkes butting & bounding as follows. Beginning at a gum corner from there 
S.25N.9 chains to a pine corner; from thence S.75.E.50 chains 50 links to a 
red oak & from thence N.12.W.50 Ch 50 Links to a gum former, from thence 
N.82.E.3 chains 25 links to a post, from thence N.29W.12 chains to a P.O.X 
from thence S.39.W.50 chains to the beginning, the said land together with all 
the rights members and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise 
appertaining, To have and to hold the said land and premises with all the 
aforesaid rights members and appurtenances, The said Asa Hooks & Agnes his 
wife against their heirs and assigns & every other person or persons will 
forever warrant and defend the same unto the John Colley and his heirs and 
assigns forever.
In witness whereof the said Asa Hooks and Agnes his wife have hereunto set 
their hands & seals the day and year above written.
